Bay Search & Rescue
The 4x4's that Bay Search & Rescue use have the primary use for transporting personnel and their PPE to scenes quickly and safely. The vehicles can also be used for transporting general equipment as well as being used as Ambulances to transport patients.
Each 4x4 carries ropes, pulleys, throw lines and swift water rescue equipment. On the image you can see a blue light bar mounted about the cab, as well as an orange beacon at the back. On the storage area is 'BAY SEARCH & RESCUE' in large and 'ALL TERRAIN RESCUE TEAM' written underneath. This vehicle was designed by George |
The minibus is a new vehicle for Bay Search & Rescue, only joining in 2012. The minibus is a lot like the 4x4s as it is primarily used for transporting members and their equipment as well as being able to double up as an ambulance. One feature that makes the minibus better than the 4x4s is its capability to carry 9 team members. On board it carries communication equipment such as VHF as well as a satnav. As well as the blue light bar on the roof, 'BAY SEARCH & RESCUE' is written underneath the back windows with 'ALL TERRAIN RESCUE TEAM' written underneath that.

This is a design of Hagglund 1 & 3. These ex-military vehicles are ideal for the environment Bay Search & Rescue operates in.
the Blue and Yellow battenberg can be seen across the Hagglund, as well as 'BAY SEARCH & RESCUE' in large letters. On the roof of the main cab is also a blue flashing light, radio pole and 2 hatches for members to see out of. This vehicle was designed by George |
H.M. Coastguard (Rescue)
This typical HM Coastguard vehicle is used by Search & Rescue teams across the UK. It has a blue and yellow battenberg pattern across with a blue light bar on the roof. On the back, where the equipment is mainly stored, it says 'HM COASTGUARD' and underneath 'SEARCH & RESCUE'. There are many alterations such as 'Mud Rescue' etc. In Wales, it often says 'GWYLWYR Y GLANNAU' beside 'Search & Rescue'

Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB)
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade was founded in 1864 and is still operational now. They specialise in rope rescue and breaches buoy rescue, as well as other aspects of a coastal rescue service. On the design you can see the blue light bar on the racks on the roof. Behind that are the aerials and then a basket stretcher. On the back window is the TVLB logo with 'Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade' written above and the website below. Beside that, on the left window, is an advert for 'Cheviot 4x4'. Along the length of the vehicle is a yellow line, as well as the roof being yellow. Along the yellow line are blue LEDs at the front and back and 'AMBULANCE' written in white on a black square.

South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB)
South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade is an independent coastal rescue unit in the North-East of England, and only one of three Volunteer Life Brigades left in the UK. You can see the traditional blue and yellow pattern throughout with yellow on the roof and then the yellow stripe down the middle (with white either side). The SSVLB logo is located on the front door along the yellow line. A blue light bar is located above the front door also. On the locker at the back is the wording "COAST RESCUE".

Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI)
The RNLI Lifeguard vehicle is not often seen outside of the Summer months when the RNLI Beach Lifeguards are patrolling. Although the designs are different the vehicle is the same. The frame at the back holds 2 rescue boards and has a loud speaker above. It also normally holds torpedo buoys.
Design 1 has the RNLI flag above the word 'Lifeguards'. This is the RNLI Lifeguards logo. On the back is the writing which says 'The RNLI is a charity that saves lives at sea'. Design 2 just has 'RNLI' written over both doors and the word 'LIFEGUARD' written on the back. This vehicle was designed by George |
